One Prayer - Pritpal Singh CD

Pritpal Singh has been singing and making sacred music since 1975. Drawing upon his studies of Classical East Indian Raag and from his meditative exploration of Naad (primal sound and how it effects the human consciousness), Pritpal has broken new ground with this latest recording in the area of Chant and Mantra Sacred Music. Pritpal Singh's music was one of the first ever published on CD – with his albums "Prayer for the Golden Temple" and "Heralds of Victory" (both are also available by us!).

In "One Prayer" we experience East Indian instruments along with the unlikely combination of American Roots musical instruments. There are three tracks of mantras as well as three tracks of selections of Gurbani or Shabad Guru. Both of these sources create strong Naad – the transforming power of sacred sound. The listener feels lifted up and transported by these tracks filled with comforting melody, supporting harmonies and powerful percussion.

At the core of his latest recording is Pritpal's rich and resonant voice. It surrounds the listener with a feeling of comfort and calm. Balanced by the floating female background vocals, there are moments of glorious harmonies and penetrating delivery of melody. "One Prayer" is innovative in the instrument accompaniment which blends Harmonium, Slide Guitar, Mandolin, Esraj, Saxophone and Tablas. All of these tracks will coax you deeper in your meditation, while some will also make you want to move.

Biography: As a student of Yogi Bhajan for over 35 years Pritpal has spent many enlightening hours working personally with this inspirational spiritual teacher. As well as being a long-time student of devotional singing in both East Indian classical and folk traditions, Pritpal has performed and taught kirtan (transformational devotional singing) throughout the US, Europe and India. He has spent many years working with vocal technique and breath as a means to experience connection to the soul through the vibration of Naad, primal sounds.

Pritpal is also a KRI-certified Professional Teacher Trainer of Kundalini yoga and meditation and is a Naad Specialist Trainer. This deep experience with the theory and practice of spiritual practice, and his love of sharing this experience with all people, enriches Pritpal's music.
