Pukka – Inspire Change, Organic & Fair Trade
Pukka: authentic, genuine, original – a word of the Hindi language that perfectly symbolizes the corporate philosophy of Pukka Herbs.
Pukka Herbs was founded in 2002 by herbal expert Sebastian Pole and entrepreneur Tim Westwell in Bristol (UK). Pukka is a thoroughly ecologically working company whose impetus is the passion to accompany people on their way to a healthier and happier life through the natural power of plants; coupled with a comprehensive phytological knowledge.
Pukka's commitment to environmental protection is also impressive: Each year, the company plants over 20 million plants and trees and invests in renewable energy, sustainability projects and reforestation programs. Besides using only 100% organic ingredients, Pukka has been certified since 2015 as a CO²-neutral company and, as a convinced member of the initiative "1% for the Planet", donates 1% of the sales proceeds for environmental and social projects.
Pukka cooperates with growers, customers and consumers on a one-to-one basis to ensure that all partners equally benefit from the collaboration: at the level of taste as well as in the areas of health and environmental protection, as well as in social terms. The aim of Pukka Herbs is to contribute to the diversity and beauty of nature through its actions. Pukka is a member of the fair trade organizations "Fair for Life" and "Fair Wild", through which the Pukka ingredients are being certified.
Pukka – Diversity for your Well-being
Tim and Sebastian, the founders of Pukka, believed right from the start that they could connect people with the power of plants and the wisdom of nature using the highest quality, properly blended and grown herbs and plants.
The full power of herbs for your well-being – these are the organic Pukka Teas, Food Supplements and Lattes that have been carefully prepared according to ancient Ayurvedic knowledge and modern science. The Pukka product families offer incredible organic herbs that stimulate, refresh, soothe or relax: a rich world of herbs for your well-being. Discover how nature can support you!
How are the Pukka Teas made?
The journey to the tasty, soothing end product starts with the highest quality organic herbs, rich in natural essential oils, carefully sourced from across the globe. Pukka‘s search for the best farmers and growers extends across half the globe: Europe, Africa, India, South-East Asia and Central America.
In these beautiful places Pukka found herb farmers with a profound respect for, and understanding of nature, the soil, and plants. Today, Pukka is working with thousands of Pukka growers in over 20 different countries around the world. These farmers’ unrelenting hard work and enthusiasm, often in the face of tough living conditions, combined with their knowledge of plants and farming, inspires everyday. To work with them creates mutually-beneficial, long-lasting relationships.
Once collected and dried, the herbs are then analysed in the Pukka lab to ensure they meet stringent quality standards before being expertly blended using the wisdom of India’s ancient health system, Ayurveda by master herbsmith Sebastian Pole. This means that every Pukka herbal blend is created with its associated well-being benefits in mind.
Ayurveda – Pukka's Inspiration
The diversity and the ancient human guiding knowledge of Ayurveda amazes and inspires more and more people everyday and worldwide. Ayurveda is Pukka‘s inspiration. Every blend is made with a specific Dosha-constitution in mind. All Pukka products are infused with the wisdom, beauty and soul of Ayurveda – a wisdom that offers to become part of your life and flow through you, helping to unlock your full potential and bring it to life.
The special Pukka Ayurveda herbal blends all have a rich, excellent taste and are of sustained positive effect on the well-being ofbody, mind and soul - developed with the optimal balance of incredible flavor, best ingredients, and the best that organic herbs have to offer.
Sustainability against Climate Change
Pukka organic herbal teas and wellbeing Food Supplements are sold in over 49 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and North, South and Central America. Last year more than 500 million colourful cups of organic tea were drunk across the world!
Pukka has joined the work against climate change, and has independently validated its climate target of reducing carbon emissions to zero by 2030 by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi).
The latest Special Report of the IPCC shows that global greenhouse gas emissions have hardly declined and that it has obviously not been possible for humanity to keep global warming at a moderate level. Limiting global warming to a maximum of 1.5° Celsius above pre-industrial levels is the only way to effectively tackle climate change. Therefore, serious efforts and courageous action are required. Above all, organic companies have a responsibility to act as a positive force.
Pukka started its climate work in 2015 with the investment of almost 30,000 euros to allocate its carbon footprint and keyed out its total CO² emissions from "harvest to cup". The complexity of the Pukka supply chain for tea production, where more than 90 percent of emissions are beyond Pukka's control, makes the 1.5-point target much more ambitious.
