The Ashoka tree is medium sized with wonderful dark green foliage and bright orange flowers. In Indian literature it is praised for offering Sita, the wife of the mythical hero Rama, protection from her persecutor in most difficult times. This is another reason why the Ashoka tree is highly valued throughout India.
The ancient Ayurvedic texts say that the bark of the Ashoka tree has particularly positive properties for women. It is used in various Ayurveda recipes. Parts of the Ashoka bark are combined with many other famous herbs and fermented according to the oldest traditional Ayurvedic techniques to produce the legendary women's tonic Ashokarishta.

Preparation / Usage:
