Star anise is used as a spice and is home in southern China, India, Vietnam, Laos, Philippines, and the Caribbean. In China, star anise is appreciated for 5,000 years as a spice and medicinal herb. In India and China, the capsules are a popular spice ingredient for chicken and meat dishes.
