Cardamom is considered one of the oldest and most valuable spices, similar to Saffron and Vanilla. Cardamom originally comes from southern India and is cultivated today also in other countries such as Sri Lanka, Guatemala, Tansania and Brasil.
The mostly green cardamom-pods with their brown to dark black coloured cardamom seeds have a pleasantly fresh and mild taste which fits perfectly to other herbs and especially curry spices. Cardamom is also often used as a wonderful ingredient in cakes, pastries and milky foods such as deserts.
