Chickpeas are characterised by their high content of biologically high-quality protein and the essential amino acid lysine. This makes them particularly valuable in vegetarian diets. Chickpea flour is suitable for use in many dishes, e.g. pancakes.
In Ayurveda, chickpea flour is also used as a paste (with water), e.g. for massages and scrubs, or dry (for Kapha types).
A paste made from chickpea flour and water is also used for the Netra Tarpana treatment to create a protective ring around the eyes.
