Moringa is a real Power-plant: with its high nutritional content and high amount of antioxidants, the Moringa tree, native to North-West India, is often called "miracle tree". Moringa leaves in particular contain valuable vitamins and minerals, especially vitamin A - ideal for the normal functioning of the eyes, immune system, skin, mucous membranes and hair.
In 2014, the magazine EatSmarter wrote about Moringa: "Healthier than any fruit or vegetables", and ranked it among the 100 most healthiest foods.
The moringa leaf has following properties:
- Rasa (flavour): sweet (madhur)
- Guna (physical properties): heavy (Guru), dry (Ruksha) & pungent (Tikshana)
- Virya (potency): is cold (Sheeta)
- Vipaka (effect): pungent (Katu)
- Pitta & Vata Shamaka (balancing Pitta and Vata dosha)
